Official Painting of the Sunset Beach Pontoon Bridge

In October 2010 I was honored to attend the dedication and reception of the new Mannon C. Gore bridge in Sunset Beach, NC. This new bridge replaces the one lane swing bridge that once connected Sunset Beach Island to the mainland. While a bittersweet moment for those who love the quaintness of the pontoon bridge, everyone is excited to see the new two-lane infrastructure in place.

Above is my entry into the 'official' painting of the pontoon bridge contest. I was thrilled to find out that it won first prize and will now hang in town hall as a memorial to the icon.
